From the beginning of this relaxation exercise, I felt calm, peaceful and relaxed. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical of an exercise such as this, but the music, narrator, and script was ideal to achieve a high level of relaxation.
The instructions paired with the information made the exercise informative, interesting, and tranquil. I could feel my mind-body connection working as I went through the exercise. It is clear that if a mind is trained, it can absolutely influence the body.
I recommend this exercise or any other relaxation exercise to everyone, but particularly to those who may be highly stressed or skeptical. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to experience this exercise.
Hi Eric! I appreciate your honesty about being skeptical. I have always had an interest in the mind-body connection, but never really was confronted with it until I had a very serious car accident about a decade ago. I had a punctured lung, broken ribs, ruptured spleen, and damage to my cranial fourth nerve which caused some memory damage and drooping of my eye. I was airlifted to a major hospital. I was told that I was a fighter all the way. It was very difficult to subdue me. However, some physicians felt that it was that fight that caused my body to heal quickly. It was also that fight that helped me to persevere through memory therapy, physical therapy (I had to learn balance again), and even to correct my eye. Although I was in serious pain, I refused any narcotics or other pain relievers. They did have me on morphine in the hospital for a few days, and that was all it took for me to know I did not want to take any other pain killers. Instead, I considered yoga breathing techniques (yoga also helped with my balance issues) and meditation. Though I felt the pain, I also felt my body. I also still felt normal, not confused or in any other altered state.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am very thankful for all the experiences that have led me to this path I am currently on. I wish you many more wonderful discoveries.

I was also skeptical. Even half way through the narration I was wondering if it was all in my head...well, maybe it was, but IT WORKED! My hands did get hotter and heavier. My muscles did relax and let go. And, my mind did go to a better place which affected the rest of me both physically and psychologically. It was worth the time. I think I will do it again tomorrow morning :)
