Exercise and Assessment Process
The exercise and assement process entailed saying positive statements to myself over and over again about others; specifically how I can help others. This exercise made me discover that I can and should do more for others. Instead of just praying for others, I need to make more of an effort to actually do things for them. I have chosen this area to be a focus of growth and development for me as I now realize that doing for others needs to be a priority for me.
Some specific activities I can do to foster greater wellness in this area is to make sure to meditate daily, continue to pray for others, and make a concious effort to help others regularly.
Eric, I also need to make more of an effort to do things for others. I guess beings I am in customer service I always see myself doing for someone else but that dosen't count because I am getting paid to do it, it is the things you do that you don't get anything in return that count and thats what I need to work on.

Hi Eric! Thanks for your post! Doing for others is an uplifting experience. I used to volunteer for the literacy coalition. It was a wonderful thing to help someone open doors in their own life simply be learning to read. However, helping and thinking of others, does not have to be some grand gesture or standard commitment. I read an article about some ladies who saved money monthly and listened to their neighbors and the going ons in their community. They would make food baskets for a family that was having a hard time, invite someone to dinner, help with yard work, or various other tasks. I think part of it is simply being open to hearing. There are so many who need support in our community, but these modern days often keep us cooped up in our own lives.

Eric,
ReplyDeleteI also have found it difficult to get into the groove and understanding of how this "stuff" works. I say it like that because that is how I felt in the begining. I still have struggles getting my mind to stop wandering and to focus on the session at hand, but I am trying. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
